it was a rainy manhattan mid-day
with me in the midst of it
high heels avoiding pavement cracks
no umbrella to help

but there was something pleasant about it

i knew the trick
how to get warm a little bit
so i slightly passed over those grills
and the subway air started melting my chills

popping up my skirt

such an unexpected
marilyn momentum!

how flattering
for a shy girl like me...

my name in japanese

Sunday, May 2, 2010

i'm reading left to right
i'm thinking black and white
identifying with
blinking

black manga eyes

can deeply recognize
that fear
that set of mind
and narrow sky above

in strange manga lives.

i've just finished reading "solanin" (ソラニン in japanese) and what i really love about it are amazing drawings of the scenery and landscape by Inio Asano, with unbelievable photo touch.

what really engaged me though was the story itself, about average japanese young guys struggling to survive in "the adult world", with all pain and frustration it might involve. almost everyone can recognize their failures, their doubts and uncertainties, all those common things that all common people share.

it's just a "common people life" scenario: big dreams with no big success, craving for love, giving support, with something always being messed up. and it's ok, because a real life looks pretty much like that.

i don't understand a tragic moment which gives the story such a radical twist... is there any message behind? i'm glad that meiko &co got back on the track and i stick to it as my personal "guide line" to read it... between all those shades of gray, try to find your own way and enjoy it...

Желим:
да после снова
не остане траг на твом телу.

Да понесеш од мене само
тугу и свилу белу
и мирис благ...

путева засутих лишћем свелим
са јабланова.

I wish:
that after the dreams
I leave no trace on your body.

That you take with you only
the sadness and the white silk
and the soft smell...

of the roads covered with dry leaves
shaken from the poplar trees.

he's all about maps
i'm all about colors

so
one day

he grabbed my hand
and took me to wonderland

and we found
our perfect spot

here i am
getting ready

with butterflies in my stomach
and lovely pearls on my ears

and with dark, dark glasses

running a risk of being overdressed
but enjoying it every second

glad to come after audrey's steps
on these busy new york days
