there are just a few things
as elegant and fragile
as the early morning snow
in late january

we played with a cloud
in millennium park
and had a lovely afternoon
collecting some impressionist dots

take five gentle breaths

you have everything in this story
about two of them
locked in together

in their strange and collapsing
still glamurous lives

luxury and greed
pride and fear
glory and sadness
happiness and love

it all gets you scared, angry,
shocked and helpless

while watching her beauty
irreversibly fading away

one of those very moments
that makes this city so special to me

the "n" train rushing toward the island
the brooklyn bridge arises suddenly
with dazzling skyline aside

i saw her today
long, blueish hair
all in bones and with scars
she was a bride,
a very weird one.

with no bouquet
she was alone
waiting for someone to hold
her hand.

and i was wondering
where he was...

at tim burton's exhibiton,
MoMA

walking down broadway i can never resist
sneaking into "fish's eddy",
browsing for cute details.

i usually get lost in the world of alice or dorothy,
and i never miss the gallery behind.

i love "fish's eddy"
for its colors and shapes.

it reminds me of fairytales.
the ones that you forget when you get old.

this lazy sunday we welcomed at "pegu club",
our secret place for leisure and fun.

waitresses in beautiful flower dresses were roaming around,
people were chatting, laughing, seducing...
within dimmed red lights.

every time i go there
i have one stylish "dominicana"
that makes me wanna dance all night long.

when we are in the mood for a good movie, we head to film forum. people still go there two hours ahead to grab a ticket, and wait in line for a good seat.

so last night we did the same, to watch a deep, sad, but revealing story about how unbearable and beautiful at the same time life can be. "the white ribbon" makes you think for hours about what you just saw.

almost forgot the feeling...

the other night we went to chelsea hotel,
for a small gathering with a great ocassion.

and you could tell...

that place is a home of melancholics,
of lonely singers, of desperate lovers.
of those who stay behind thick curtains
in a world of decadence and lust.

but those long hallways never look empty,
and those silent rooms are never cold.

so i felt a relief.

nancy, at least, had a perfect scenery to die.

*by pure coincidence, we stayed in the room where sid vicious stabbed his girlfriend in 1978...

the weather was nasty, but it was a treat:
sunday afternoon within the art.
admiring the colors of klimt,
facing schiele's scary faces.

right at the exit, there was a landscape,
almost escaping me...

students of art were sketching it,
i was only looking at it,
amazed how amazing it was.

this little christmas tree
grabbed my attention while passing it by.

it's because of the books, the old fashioned ones.
with lovely covers and beautiful letters.
i guess they were made with love.

happy new year.
